Frequently Asked Questions

PROCESS

How long does it take to receive our wedding films?

I aim to deliver Teaser films within approximately 2-3 weeks of the wedding date. Wedding Films are typically delivered within 12–16 weeks.

  • Towards the end of peak wedding season, delivery may extend up to approximately 20 weeks due to editing schedules.

Each film is individually crafted by myself, which means editing timelines can vary depending on the number of wedding videos waiting to be edited.

I limit the number of weddings I take on so I can focus on making each as personal and unique as possible.

Although I want you to see your Teaser Film as soon as possible after your wedding, my priority is making something personal and not for social channels - I don’t believe in rushing this.

Why does wedding film editing take several months?

Creating a wedding film involves much more than selecting clips and adding music.

  • The editing process includes:

    • Reviewing and organising many hours of footage

    • Selecting moments that best tell your story

    • Crafting narrative structure using natural audio and speeches

    • Colour grading and sound design, music selection

    • Carefully balancing pacing and emotional flow

This process is deliberately unhurried to ensure each film feels thoughtful, cohesive and emotionally engaging.

Will we receive updates while our film is being edited?

Yes. I understand couples naturally feel excited to see their film, and I aim to keep you informed throughout the editing process.

  • You will always be contacted if there are any significant changes to delivery timelines, and I am happy to answer questions at any stage.

Can we request changes to our film?

If there is something small that you would like adjusted, I am always happy to discuss it where possible.

  • Because films are built around storytelling structure and music, major restructuring is not usually possible, but I always aim for couples to feel happy and confident with their finished film.

Can we choose the music for our wedding film?

Music plays a huge role in shaping the emotion and pacing of your film. I carefully select licensed music from professional music libraries that allow legal use in wedding films.

  • Unfortunately, popular commercial songs (e.g. chart music or well-known artists) can’t legally be used in wedding films due to copyright restrictions — even for private sharing online. Using unlicensed music can result in films being muted, removed, or restricted on platforms like Instagram and YouTube.

Beyond licensing, well-known songs can sometimes date a film or draw attention away from the story itself. Carefully chosen licensed music allows the focus to remain on your voices, speeches and natural moments — helping the film feel more timeless and personal.

If you have a particular style or mood in mind, I’m always happy to take that into account when selecting music.

What is included in your wedding film packages?

Details on what my current packages include can be found here.

How will we receive our films?

Films are delivered via a private online gallery that allows easy viewing, downloading and sharing with family and friends.

MY STYLE

How would you describe your filming style?

My approach is best described as documentary, cinematic storytelling.

  • I focus on capturing genuine moments as they naturally happen, rather than heavily directing or staging events. This allows your film to feel authentic, relaxed and personal - something I know my couples will appreciate in the years to come.

If you have a couples portrait session planned, I may gently guide positioning or movement if helpful, but I always aim to keep things natural and comfortable.

Do you use scripted or staged moments?

No — my focus is on capturing real interactions and natural emotion.

  • While I may occasionally suggest small adjustments to help with lighting or composition, the majority of the day is filmed as it unfolds naturally.

It’s a balance between capturing your at your best and making sure I’m not an obvious part of your day.

How do you capture audio during ceremonies and speeches?

Clear audio is one of the most important elements of emotional storytelling. Not just during ceremony and speeches, but throughout the day.

  • I use discreet professional microphones to capture:

    • Ceremony vows

    • Speeches

    • Natural ambient sound

This allows voices and atmosphere to become part of your film’s narrative.

GOOD TO KNOW

Will you work alongside our photographer?

Yes. Collaboration with photographers is extremely important. I aim to work discreetly and cooperatively to ensure both photography and videography complement one another.

Will having a videographer feel intrusive?

Most couples comment afterwards that they forgot I was there. My approach is calm, observational and unobtrusive.
I prioritise allowing the day to unfold naturally rather than interrupting moments.

Are you happy to travel?

Although my wedding videography service is based in Bournemouth, Dorset, I regularly travel across the South West and throughout the UK. Travel requirements are discussed during booking.
I will also consider destination weddings.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book between 12–18 months in advance, particularly for peak summer wedding dates. Availability can be limited, so early enquiry is always recommended.
However, I often accept last minute bookings, sometimes within a few days of wedding dates, so it’s always worth asking.

How do we secure our date?

Dates are secured with a signed agreement and deposit. Once confirmed, your date is reserved in my diary.

Do you do photography?

SUPER 8

What is a Super 8 wedding film?

Super 8 is a vintage film format that gives your wedding film a nostalgic, timeless quality.

  • It has a soft, textured, charming, grainy look that digital cameras can’t replicate — the kind of romantic, “memory-like” footage you might have seen in old family films or classic movies.

Many couples find me through seeing an example, or because they want something different and unique, not necessarily knowing what Super 8 is beforehand.

Super 8 is best thought of as a standalone artistic film or as a complement to digital coverage. Full-day Super 8 gives a complete, curated story in the vintage format, but couples often pair it with a digital film to capture audio, extended coverage, and a structured narrative.

How is full-day Super 8 different from typical add-on packages?

Most UK wedding filmmakers or photographers use Super 8 for a short highlight reel or just a few hours.

  • My full-day Super 8 package captures the entire wedding day, from preparations to reception, creating a curated and complete film.

This approach is rare in the UK, and it allows for a film that feels like a fully realised, timeless memory rather than a brief snippet.

I usually shoot less than 15 minutes of footage across the day, so expect short clips throughout.

Will Super 8 include audio like speeches and vows?

Traditional Super 8 does not capture usable on-location audio the way digital cameras do. Instead, the films are typically set to carefully chosen licensed music.

  • For ceremony vows, speeches, or clear dialogue, a digital film can run alongside Super 8. Many couples choose a combination of both formats.

Since 2025 I’ve started experimenting with on-location sound with vintage microphones in my Super 8 films. This is there to add atmosphere, and not to replicate contemporary digital audio recordings you’ll hear on my digital video Wedding Films.

How is the day filmed with Super 8?

Super 8 reels are short, so I plan coverage carefully to capture the most meaningful moments naturally and unobtrusively.

  • The approach remains observational and story-driven — nothing is staged, and the resulting film feels authentic, cinematic, and nostalgic.

What is included with a Super 8 Package?

My current packages can be found here. Films are delivered via a private online gallery that allows easy viewing, downloading and sharing with family and friends.
You’ll also receive your original physical Super 8 cine reels in a keepsake box along with a USB stick containing your films.

INVESTMENT

Why is wedding videography worth investing in?

Wedding films preserve something that photography alone cannot — voices, movement, atmosphere, and the emotional energy of the day as it naturally unfolds.

  • Over time, many couples find their film becomes one of the most emotionally valuable records of their wedding. Being able to hear speeches again, watch loved ones interact naturally, and relive the feeling of the day often grows more meaningful with each passing year.

My approach focuses on creating films designed not just to be enjoyed immediately after the wedding, but to hold emotional value for decades.

How is wedding videography different from photography?

Photography beautifully captures individual moments and details. Videography captures how those moments felt.

  • Film preserves:

    • The sound of voices and laughter

    • The way people move and interact

    • The atmosphere of the ceremony and speeches

    • The small, unscripted moments between formal events

Most couples find photography and videography complement each other rather than replace one another.

Is wedding videography right for every couple?

Not necessarily…

  • Videography tends to be most meaningful for couples who:

    • See their wedding as part of their family history

    • Appreciate creative filmmaking rather than simple documentation

    • Appreciate visual quality and audio quality

    • Want to preserve speeches and voices

If those things resonate, videography often becomes one of the most treasured parts of the wedding investment.

Why do wedding videography prices vary so much?

Pricing differences usually reflect:

    • Experience and storytelling expertise

    • Time spent editing and crafting films

    • Equipment and audio quality

    • Amount of time spent filming

    • Package variations, especially the length of films produced

    • Level of personal service and attention to detail

Wedding films often involve significantly more editing time than filming time, and this is usually reflected in pricing across the industry.
